Looking for ideas for something to do for me and my wife's 10th anniversary. Would like to get out of the LP for a day, but can't stay overnight. Thanks in advance.

Man you are going all out.

The only thing I can offer would be pick a nice Saturday and go to New Orleans or Bay St. Louis to walk about shops and bars/restaurants.

Thanks. Yeah, I've set the bar low in prior years so a day trip is a pretty big deal

Others can help more with Bay St Louis. I can help with New Orleans suggestions.

I'm intrigued by the Bay St Louis idea. I've never been there before. As for New Orleans, we had discussed one of the river boat cruises.

The riverboat cruises are scenic enough, but do not eat on the boat. Terrible, generic food.

Thanks. We're leaning more and more towards driving out towards Bay St. Louis and looking around.

What sort of things are out at BSL to do/see? Honestly, I've never been to that location in particular.

I looked around on Google street view. Looks like a neat little walking town. Hoping someone will post some more specifics, but I don't mind winging it either. Mentioned it to the wife and she is on board. Planning on going Fri of next week if nothing changes. Will try to remember to post back and let ya'll know how it goes.

Bay St Louis is definitely a walkable town. There are shops and a gallery or two.

C & C is our favorite brunch/lunch spot.

C & C Farm to Fork

Total for these five dishes at the bar...$20! $5 each with one for lagniappe as a Saturday noon special when they were converting their menu.

Top - Crispy oyster devil eggs
New Orleans devil crab - one of the best we have ever eaten
Fried green tomatoes with shrimp
Boudin and andouille stuffed figs
Lamb empanadas

Filet Benedict from another trip

Crab cake Benedict

Everything was delicious. Check it out if you like well prepared food a little out of the ordinary.

If you can't stay overnight for 1 night for your 10th anniversary you need to evaluate your life. That's some weak BS honestly.

I mean wait a week or something. Do you have 5 kids or something? Its not that hard to find someone to babysit your kids for 1 night, certainly not too much effort for your 10th.

You come off as unduly harsh & judgy during this season of thanksgiving. Caring for an elderly parent, a self-employed person stretched thin at a busy season, a teacher or coach with in-season time demands, a child with special needs......countless legitimately important things can make an overnight trip impossible on any specific day of the calendar. Also, effort is being made; perhaps this is a couple that values their time together & doesn't need a destination in order to feel special.

Peace.....

You are right. Because its ridiculous. You realize that in calling my harsh and judgy you in turn judged me right?

If there is anything women pound into the ground, its effort from their husband. I don't see any reason in the world to not be able to spend a single night away with your wife to celebrate for 24 hours being married for 10 years. Its a big day.

Again, I never said it has to be the exact day or week of the anniversary. If he is busy that day or month, I'm simply recommending making an effort when he is able to.

Thanks Hungryone. Yeah we have our reasons. We consider ourselves blessed and are quite happy.

I didn't take any offense baldona. Thank you for your sentiment as well. For now we're sticking to a day trip though.

We went this past Friday. Unfortunately C&C Farm to Fork was closed for lunch with it being the day after Thanksgiving I guess. We ended up eating at Trapani's Eatery. I would recommend it. I got the peneed veal and my wife got the peneed fish. Both was good.

Great place to walk around a bit, but we ended up driving around mainly. We didn't dress warm enough. Great place to drive along the coast. We went into the Silver Slipper for a few minutes. Was not impressed at all with it. Also, Bucanneer State Park is there as well. Looks like a good place to go back with the kids during the summer.

Thanks again for all of your input.

I live in BSL, try to get a room at the Bay Towne Inn.

As far as things to do...depends on the weekend. “Second Saturday” is something that goes on throughout the year, kind of out door market thing.

Local online magazine...
https://www.bslshoofly.com/

Tons of dining options...maybe a Little Theatre show, hard to go through it not knowing what you’re looking for, just get a place to stay first.

Rent an Airbnb if the Inn is full.

Just read the post before mine, ugh. Trapanis is a good time, how’d you like the marinara?

Should have driven to the top of the parking garage at the Slipper and checked out the bayou right there...it’s a great view from up on top. La France’s and Ansley is worth a drive when you’re over there, and there’s a cool dirt road that goes behind Buccaneer.

Did you drive the sea wall past the Yacht club? Ends up behind the Hollywood’s golf course.

Golf carts are better to drive around BSL in, Should rent one from Bodega next time.

You see the Sycamore House? Should have eaten there...or should in the future. Their back patio is great when the weather’s nice.

Y’all go anywhere for drinks?

Yeah, we plan to go back again.

The Yachts were cool to see. Yeah we did drive the sea wall. Thought it was going to take us on around, but it ended up dead ending at a launch. Was neat though.

We just got drinks while we were at Trapanis. Will have to check out top of Slipper, and Sycamore House, and others next time. Thanks for the suggestions!
