If you're thinking "that's too expensive", it's completely silent at idle and I definitely wanted that. Plus it gave me the lighting that I wanted to be able to make it LSU themed.

About to build a rig this month.
Deciding between 9900k and 9700k
Going with a 2080.

This makes no sense. I was gonna ask if you do video processing but definitely not with that graphics card.
That's overkill for anything you're doing with it with that gfx card.
Looks great though. The build is just a scratcher unless you're doing some intense processing.
ETA
Should've read the thread. Game designer. Makes more sense now.

Yes.
Though one or two game design processes are being handed off to the GPU (not many) now, most of the processing depends on the CPU. You actually rarely use the GPU in game design, only when you're testing and writing custom shaders. Also, it's not good testing your game using top of the line GPUs. Most people that play PC games don't have RTX 2080s. Most of them live in the 1060 or equivalent range. The GTX 1060 is Nvidia's closest card to an Xbox One X, that's why I got it 2 years ago.
Having said all of that - I will go all out on Nvidia's 3rd generation RTX cards in a couple years. I'll get the "80" version then.

The 9900k is definitely a better value.

Why do people get so pissy when others build overpowered PC's. I dont get it.

I have a very similar setup, and I'm not even a gamer either.
Same watercoolor brand also, but not those colors. That's great.

It's not so much being pissed but questioning why.

The same reason why people buy fast cars when they aren't racecar drivers - it's cool and fun to have.
I do still game on occasion, and when I do, it's nice to have a performing PC. But it's primarily built for design.
Even if I wasn't a designer, I would have still built this same PC because I know this build will last me a long time. A middle of the road build lasts maybe 5 years until it becomes way to underperforming for certain things. My new PC should last me 8-9 years.

If Big Lee was a computer nerd...

Just about every case nowadays will do the latter, but finding one to fit the HDDs that doesn't look like shite will be tough. Could always go for one of the massive corsair towers.
Or get a 4u server case and fit them all easily and give no fricks about how it looks

Very cool! My 2012 Macbook is wearing down. Did you order your parts through new egg or amazon? Would like to do something similar and should definitely handle my cs 1.6 nostalgia fix. What type of monitors you have there?
