It's the multi-core aspect of it. In game design you do a lot of multi-core type stuff. Rendering, baking, ray-tracing (not real time like RTX).
I use a lot of Photoshop and Illustrator. A program called World Machine and programs like Substance Painter and Substance Designer. Also Blender. All of this software is more demanding on the CPU than the GPU. Overclocking helps tremendously.
This is my first PC to overclock, I don't usually do it because I like my PCs to last as long as they can. But this new i9-9900k is a beast and great for overclocking, so I went for it.
