Trump's Admin orders Kaspersky products off of Government Equipment.

quote:

The Trump administration on Wednesday told U.S. government agencies to remove Kaspersky Lab products from their information systems, saying it was concerned the Moscow-based cyber security firm was vulnerable to Kremlin influence. The decision represents a sharp response to what U.S. intelligence agencies have described as a national security threat posed by Russia in cyberspace, following an election year marred by allegations that Moscow weaponized the internet in an attempt to influence its outcome.

WhyTF did we even have kaspersky on ANY government equipment to begin with?

Oh, and while we're at it, let's get rid altogether of each and every Chinese made security camera.

Exactly. Even if the Chinese blow North Korea's shite to hell, stop buying Chinese crap for our government facilities. Period. The security risk is just too great.

I want to know why the government uses closed-source software from ANY 3rd party. Why should any machine that could possibly access sensitive information run software if we don't know exactly what it does?

I've always been leary of Kaspersky and CNET because they are tied to Russia.

How is the gov't just coming around to this?
