I would prefer some sort of swipe gesture incorporated to close apps and miss that function.
If you swipe up and hold down, once the red dots appear on the top of the app you can swipe them up to close.

And problem solved. I didn’t realize that you could swipe once the dots appeared, I thought you had to click them.

I just hate the idea of it not having a home button or even an on-screen home button. Maybe I'm being ridiculous, but that has been the design of the iPhone since its creation and I'm so used to it now, and being able to unlock my phone before it even comes out of my pocket.

Yeah. I was aware of this. I just didn’t like the extra step of having to hold the open app/page again to be able to clear it. It’s a minor gripe to be sure, and I imagine they will fix it in coming updates.
Surprisingly, while I didn’t like not having a home button, and having to swip down from the upper right of the screen to pull up the quick functions, it was quick learning muscle memory. Having only used it for four days I found when I switched back to the 8 plus I was trying to swipe up to get back home.

I went from a 6S to an X and I love it. Obviously a better processor and camera, but also the screen is big enough to where there is more space on the keyboard. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but when I use my 6S I notice it right away. Also, screen resolution is great, face detection is sweet, and battery life is great.
I handle the IT for my company and was due an upgrade, so I ordered my phone through AT&T around lunchtime on the release date and received it last Thursday. Was able to get the Space Gray 256gb version with a 2 year contract for $699.

So, you weren't with ATT before? They want me to pay around $33/month for 3 years.
Also, what are you guys talking about when you say gestures?
