I believe it, /r/android has been so vehemently anti-iPhone for so long the fact that anyone saying they were getting one not being downvoted into oblivion was strange.

Holy shite my phone finally shipped yesterday. Ordered in a Verizon store 9/22, almost a month.

I ordered my 7 plus through the AT&T store, and they initially said it wouldn't deliver until early December. I have now received two text notifications that I will receive it earlier than the previous scheduled arrival date.
I should be receiving it this week... Not bad.

We do different promotions every month for products. Right now, if you buy an iPhone you can get an iPad mini for $50 (Remember it's $10 a month for activation). Or you can get an apple watch if you qualify for accessories on installment.

But I think those promos the carriers did exceeded demand on an item that didn't seem to be generating much excitement

Check target and Walmarks websites. They both tell you what stores have them in stock. I had the same problem with 7 plus through AT&T, was going to take over a month to ship. Got on the target website and found a store north of dallas that had it in stock that day.
