Why can't Plex fix 2 basic DVR issues?

Issue 1: If the DVR is recording a show then allow me to watch what has already been recorded. This was a huge issue during football season because if I was having people over, more often than not we weren't seated by the time the game started so I wanted to pick it up from the beginning and you can't. You. have. to. wait. for. entire. three. hour. recording. plus. another. hour. sportsguard. to. finish.

The workaround was I had to make sure I also had the other TV tuner on that same station so I could actually pause and play that but if someone else in the house changed the channel I would have been screwed.

Issue 2: Corollary to #1, the inability to watch live TV remotely is RIDICULOUS. Plex pretty much made my chromecasts obsolete (can't cast live tv to them locally ) so i'm having to use TV apps, roku or fireTVs instead. And of course if I'm not on my local WiFi network I cant watch any of my live TV channels on any device. This is a crippling issue.

Aaaaand, of course the final insult here is that I would try to work around this by recording a live TV station & watching that remotely..but see #1. You can't interrupt a live TV DVR session. You have to wait until its over.

WTF Plex. I wish I had never gotten a lifetime pass. Cant believe they wont fix these 2 extremely basic issues.

The lifetime pass that costs $120?

You might have a service expectation that does not match the dollar amount you are willing to part with/can afford.

Plex is an unbelievable value and an unbelievable product.

fricking white people and their Plex problems!

*this is about the best crybaby whining I've read all day.

Why don't you lay out exactly what you are doing, what your sources are, the assets you have in play and let some other brains try to help you come up with a solution?

i stand corrected; it does appear live tv does work over phone data now without being at home. this must be a fairly recent development because the last time i tried it wouldn't let me unless i was on my home wifi.

however, notice your cast icon is grayed out. WTF is up with that? why can't i push this to an actual freaking TV and not be forced to watch on my phone.

and yes i tried to mirror my screen and it kinda-works but it sucks pretty bad too.

No. I've been using live tv over phone data ever since I had Plex DVR set up, which is before you ever started talking about setting up Plex a while back.

I don't use casting but I don't see how I could cast if I am not on WiFi?

Yeah, I can watch my live tv/dvr plex remotely just fine.

I can also record and watch live at the same time.

I think my setup has 3 tuners.

I don't know what you're doing wrong here or what's wrong with your setup, but I can pause/rewind/etc shows that are in the middle of recording, no problem.
