Do 4G LTE phones pick up 5G? My one android did... Even some of the older iphones aren't 5G. The new 5G phones are ridiculous in price.
i think consumer cellular goes through tmobile towers (not 100% sure) and i was having trouble with 5G on my new oneplus and went to the tmobile store and the guy turned it off in my settings and said 4G was still way more fast and reliable at the moment. he's right. i turn it on occasionally when i'm driving around to see if its gotten any better and there are enough interruptions/slow connections & hiccups that i turn it back off.
in other words, i think LTE is still king for the moment..at least in the nashville/middle tn market for tmobile. i don't know about att or verizon.

Negative. 5G in Baton rouge you can get 400mbs real world speeds. I get over 200mbs at my house, 400mbs at school. 4g is so much slower. You can tell when the phone flips between 4g and 5g while using. I do have a 13 pro max but my 12 pro was fast too. Maybe crappier phones don't have as good of electronics in them?

I wanted to upgrade our phones because we have had them a few years and keep getting the STORAGE IS FULL mumbo jumbo.
what is filling up your phone? do you take lots of photos & video? if so, install google photos (if you dont already have it) and it will back them up to the cloud so you never use space on your phone (except temporary) and the advantage is if you lose or break your phone, all your photos & videos are still safe.

Dumb question...
Are you talking about phones that can connect to 5GHz WiFi as opposed to just connecting to 2.4GHz WiFi, or are you talking about phones that are capable of 5G (5th generation) cellular capabilities?
It looks like you are looking for a phone that can connect to 5GHz WiFi. If that's the case, then yes phones that are only configured for 4G LTE cellular radios can connect to a 5GHz WiFi. My OG Google Pixel could do that.
I can't believe Spectrum turned off the 2.4 GHz portion of WiFi on your router/access point. Did they send you a new router, or do you know if they pushed a firmware update?

Just an FYI, I think you are confusing technologies and terminologies.
5G is cellular notation for 5th generation wireless. Phones can connect to 2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G. 2G and 3G are being phased out and are basically dead. 4G and 5G both refer to LTE.
Wifi is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.
When you get a phone that says 5G in the name like the Moto5G it is referring to cellular 5G. That doesn't not guarantee it would work with wifi 5Ghz.
PJinAtl said the same thing above.
