Do you see windows 10 on the update list?
You mean when I go to Windows Update? No, it's not in the list. Right now, just that update that keeps giving me a error is there and I don't know how to fix that. Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3035583), I hit OK and then get Error(s) found: Code 80070570. When I go to Get Help it doesn't do shite
Or do you mean a different update list?
ETA: other people having this same issue, gave me a link to download it but when I clicked the link it said KB3035583 is already installed on this computer. I don't understand this crap at all, but it seems like it is blocking me from getting the Windows 10 app.

Just looked in my update history list and this update 3035583 has been failing since early July. Went to a Windows Support article about resetting Windows Update components and ran the little Fix It dude. This came back after a few minutes
That's the error code lsu poster was talking about on previous page. Not sure what to do from here. Anyone with advice?

I had to attempt it like 4 times before it worked. Kept getting errors, I assume it fixed itself as I just kept restarting the computer when an error pooped up. Its installed and works fine.

I'm not talking about the actual windows update, my bad. There should be a spot where it shows you your installed updates.
I would try rolling back or uninstalling those updates which have been installed since July?
If you got a restore point relatively close then do that. If no restore, just go through and see about the uninstalling.
When I had my error, I did the command prompt commands which worked for me. I think my error was just for Windows 10. I posted it on this thread

I didn't want to start a new thread so I figured that I would ask this here. Does the upgrade to 10 have it's own product key? Would I be able to use my old 8.1 product key on a new computer now or does 10 take hold of that.

I've noticed my laptop burns the battery with 10... I was getting 2-3 hours on a full charge, now about an hour and a half.

I was never asked for another key. Mine was a straight upgrade.

My upgrade on my home PC, which I did with the media creation tool because I'm impatient, never asked for a key. But it wouldn't activate. Not over the internet or the phone. Finally talked to someone on the phone, and they said that you couldn't activate upgrades done with the media creation tool, and I had to roll back to windows 7, wait for the upgrade thingy to do it's thing and then upgrade. And then that might not work since I had "tried to improperly upgrade windows using an unauthorized method" and my key is flagged or something like that. He was Indian. I couldn't understand everything he was saying. Personally, I don't think the dude knew what he was talking about. But if he did, that sucks. Why create the option if you can't use it?

Plus since you are getting the upgrade for free, I am sure it considers the 8.1 license, your license for 10.

I reverted back to 8.1 on my Surface Pro 3 because 10 simply drained the battery too quickly and took away some of the 'casting/play to' functionality.

battery life is actually expected to improve once all the updates in taking place in the background are completed.
or at least that is what I just read on some tech site.

Thinking about upgading tonight.
What's the consensus? Worth it?

laptop or PC?
you might lose some functionality with your trackpad but for me it was one toggle option that needed to be changed.
my old laptop has never been faster.
its not 8 or 8.1...it looks and feels like a more 'streamlined' version of Win 7 (does that make sense?)
i say do it. i regret nothing.

Really nice gaming laptop.
Probably about to start it.
ETA:
Finished a little while ago. Pretty solid so far. I set up my calander and email.
Windows 10 is I think what Microsoft has been trying to do since windows 7. It's a great merger of pc and smartphone functionality and design.
I'm excited to mess around with the features and stuff.
