Outside of Google Search, Gmail, and Android Google seems to have had a ton of products not live up to the hype. Glass, Google+, Google Wave, Buzz, among others.
Google experiments a LOT, and the world is going to get hyped about pretty much everything Google introduces, no matter how seemingly insignificant. It's hard to live up to the hype every time.
That said, a lot of the tech from Wave and Buzz lives on in G+, Docs, and Gmail. Their tech evolves and adapts to fit the market. People like to criticize their methods as if they throw a bunch of shite at the wall to see what sticks. While partially true, it's a bit more calculated than that.

When are iGlasses projected to release?

Judging by the numbers of idiots that are driving while reading their cellphones, I can't wait until we see how many idiots that will be rear ending people while using their Google Glasses.

I think the consumer version of Google Glass, with new pricing and design, will be released at the end of this year.
Speaking of Apple though...is this for real?
"Lifestream" patent

The patent gives a few examples of what it could collect from a conversation, besides raw audio and video: facial recognition; "respiration patterns, ... pupil dilation, blinking, tears, redness."

Google shakes up Glass efforts ahead of commercial launch
quote:
The WSJ reports Google Glass (GOOG +0.2%) will be moved out of the Google X research lab (focused on long-term projects) and turned into a standalone unit. The unit will be directly led by current Glass chief Ivy Ross (hired last May), and overseen by Nest Labs CEO/iPod "godfather" Tony Fadell.
The paper adds Google plans to stop selling the $1,500 Explorer Edition of Glass to individuals (but not companies/developers) on Jan. 19, as it preps for a 2015 full commercial launch involving a second-gen model (and presumably a much lower price point).
Intel was previously reported to be the CPU supplier for the second-gen version of Glass. Himax (HIMX -4.1%) is believed to remain the microdisplay supplier.
At the time of the Nest acquisition, TechCrunch reported Nest will become Google's primary hardware arm, developing many products besides smart thermostats and smoke alarms. Since then, Nest has acquired monitoring camera/cloud recording service provider Dropcam; many Dropcam employees are reportedly unhappy working under Fadell.

i gotta agree with the posters that have said there's a lot of untapped potential in the tech. This would make fishing in the marsh so awesome. Imagine way points and turn by turn driving through the marsh out of Hopedale out to the MRGO without ever having to take your eyes off the water?

Google Glass: What went wrong
To OP, sleep well tonight! You are vindicated.
