When I purchase, most likely it will be something made by Ubiquiti.

Ubiquiti makes great products.
Anyone using the surveillance station with a Synology NAS? I know you only get 2 camera licenses initially, but I'm thinking I'd get more bang for my buck..

Blink currently. Not sure who I’ll go to once these go out. I like not having to run wires, so it might be someone like Arlo.

Thanks, this and Arlo look like 2 good options with the wire-free. Blink is a good bit cheaper.

Blink or Arlo Pro? If you get Arlo Pro it's 720p but what I do like about Arlo is the 7 days cloud storage. $199 for a 1 cam set up vs $129 for Blink.
I like Arlo Pro 2 with 1080 but it's so much more than Arlo Pro. Anyone have experience with both and is Pro 2 really needed?

So you get the thief on film..... Then what? Waste of money IMO. My neighbor has one to catch dogs pooping in his yard.
Its not just that it makes a heck of a doorbell. If someone is in my yard and I'm not home I get an instant alert and I can address the person through the camera. It rocks I love it.

I have the older Arlo. I don't miss a thing. Love the microphone system and catching/recording everything. HD is nice and I'm sure if it was available when I bought it I would have but what I've got definitely serves the purpose.

Following this thread and I am stuck between the Arlo Pro and the Blink set up.
From what I can tell the advantages of Arlo is the 7 day cloud storage and 2 way talk. Plus it seems like support is better and they have web and app.
Advantages of Blink are obviously the price and you can do 1080p. The batteries, even on 1080p last 1 year while on 720p last 2 years (so they say).
Any other things to look at? I'm looking at the 2 camera set up which Blink has on BF sale at $199. For Arlo Pro it's $349.

Having a microphone makes or breaks it for me. Easy to scare someone off if you need to that way.

Can confirm. My batteries lasted almost a year and a half on 1080P. You can also store up to 120 minutes of clips on their servers indefinitely. Anything beyond 120 minutes overwrites the oldest clip. I simply just delete junk clips each week, so I never have to worry about it. It has a microphone to record audio, but no way to speak back through the camera. It only has an app, so you can't view clips through a browser, but that's not been an issue so far, since I can download a clip and e-mail it to myself if necessary.
Downside of Blink is that I can't mark off areas for motion detection, so I get about 10-12 alerts every day for cars passing. This actually can be a benefit though, as it can show a clear picture of a car, if something is stolen from a house in the neighborhood and they drive in front of my house on the way out. Also, there is a 10 second cool down period in-between recording of clips. Since the clips can be up to 60 seconds long, this isn't really much of an issue, but it could be depending on the situation.
