Waze driving me crazy

Every time I get in my car, Waze starts up and I don’t want that to happen.
How do I stop this from happening.

On your phone go to Settings>general>Carplay>>select vehicle>>Customize

also try swiping up and closing the app. car play seems to want to use the last maps app you used. it should use Apple Maps as default if you have the Waze closed

This is the problem I think OP is ultimately complaining about. I didn't have this problem in my 2021, but do in my 2024. I don't *want* Carplay to start any nav service unless I open it. All it does is burn battery when I don't need to.

I searched, and apparently this became a problem since 2022 (according to Reddit at least,) and nobody on /r/carplay had any answers. It seems like most people don't seem to care.
I checked FORScan (on a Ford) on a whim, and there isn't a setting in any module that pertains to Carplay or Android Auto.
