Was the Iomega Bournelli Box a scam?

Haven't seen any bernoulli-based drives in probably 30 years now.
quote:
The drive spins a PET film floppy disk at about 3000 rpm, 1 µm over a read-write head, using Bernoulli's principle to pull the flexible disk towards the head as long as the disk is spinning. In theory this makes the Bernoulli drive more reliable than a contemporary hard disk drive, since a head crash is impossible.
at the time i was all about this.
as a computer salesman i convinced pretty much every single customer to buy this.

Scam? -- no.
Piece of junk? -- hell, yes.
When they worked, they worked. Just don't ever count on them working.

The only Iomega product that I ever used was the Zip drive, and mostly what I remember about those is the click of death.

i still have my old zip and jaz drives...and a ton of disks with i'm sure nothing more relevant than macplaymate and some great JPEGs of penthouse magazine scans
