Can someone walk me through how to do this? I have a NetGear Nighthawk. Not sure what model but it was $150-$200. I figured out how to disable the wifi on the ATT modem/router through a youtube video and I wired the router to one of the ports. I'm getting wifi through the new router but I'm only getting ~50 mbps through the wifi on my phone.

Am I missing a step?

Sounds like you've got it working to me.

Did your phone get higher speeds when connected to the AT&T router?

Have you tried other devices on the Nighthawk?

Tried a hardwired device?

Are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz?

Are you using WPA2?

Any other devices connected to wifi?

There is a way to get into the "modem/router", then you set the modem to "pass thru mode" or whatever they call it now. You should be able to find the instructions by googling. You will know you have it right when your router has an outside address from ATT.

I did it when they installed mine, but do not remember all the steps.

you are paying for 1000 and you are only getting 600, and you like that?

There is a big thread on this i started. Simple answer is, there is a way but it doesnt work for everything.

For most people, that's beyond enough.

I get about 950mbps wired but mine drops to like 500mbps wireless. That's pretty standard though. Dunno if he meant wired or wireless?

I pay $70 a month for it and the tech said on my street the most he’s seen is 700. Said it should be updated soon to be close to 1000

I’m not complaining. 650MB a second loads Netflix and Plex just fine. And yes that’s wireless. Not hard wired

It was $5 more for 1gb vs 300 mb. I’m not losing sleep over it

I have the 100mb Att fiber with a linksys velop. All the nodes are backhauled wired to the main node.

I get 120/120Mbps wireless all day long.

I didnt change any settings in the Att modem other than disable the built in Att wireless. Works like a champ.

Maybe an issue with the wireless router?
