508 hours vs 7.8 hours of work to pay. Wow.

I seriously doubt average hourly wage is $28.

Rather than insulting them you should thank them. God bless those over paying early adopters that support insanely priced products long enough to become reasonably priced for the mainstream market.

I would never spend $2k-$3k for an OLED TV. But in a few years I will buy one for under $1k thanks to the early adopters.

True story..My FiL owns a 720p 55in that I remember him paying close to 6k for maybe 10 years ago..If you want to see the difference, watch your $600 4k HDR at home and then go watch this 720 monstrosity on his wall

I don’t know what you mean by overpay. With the internet and manufactures having MSRP posted on their websites who is over paying?

That not because early adopters drove your cost down its because you are now buying old technology. And that is fine if that is how you want to live your life but don’t hate on the people who choose to buy that new model Mercedes while you pick up a 4 year old Altima off the used car lot.

Different strokes for different folks.

Man, looking back at 2006 when everyone was buying stuff after Katrina, I know I paid a stupid amount for TV's. I can pay half that, 12 years later, and get much better.

I don't know what the average minimum wage is across the country, but the rolled up average for all wages for everyone is roughly $23 per hour. No clue why the asterisk and the $28 number.

It would have sucked if you spent the last 12 years watching a 4:3 480i display. I’m willing to bet the next TV you buy doesn’t last that long.

The only thing is that $1000 TV lasted over 20 years and the $200 one maybe 5.

Could you really buy a 50” for just $218 in 2014?

I paid a little more than that for a 32”:for the patio a year or so ago, and that was one of the cheapest TVs on the floor at the time.
