I wanted to get the experts on this boards advice regarding the new program TMobile just rolled out.

TMobile One Military Discount Plan

It purports to offer unlimited everything for two lines - $80 out the door per month ($25 for each addition a line). Netflix subscription thrown in on top as well.

I have been an AT&T customer for like 15 years and I am paying around $150 a month for two lines, unlimited plus with top data speeds.

My question is TMobile's offering legit and is it comparable to what I am getting through ATT right now?

I will switch in a heartbeat if this is a legit offer that can cut my bill in half, but I don't want to switch to find out I am throttled at 10 GB of data usage (we typically use 11 GB of data together a month).

This board has been very helpful in the past, so I appreciate it fellas.

Update:

So I called and visited with the TMobile salesman this morning on the phone to see if there were any hidden terms or conditions not included in the fine print. He was very helpful and walked me through exactly what I would be looking in switching over to the One Military plan. I read through the entire fine print section as well last night. He confirmed that the lines would have unlimited everything, with the potential for data throttling on a line after it hit 50GB of data usage in a month. My wife and I don't even approach 25% of that on a typical month as we stay on wifi mostly. TMobile will also include a Netflix subscription (two screens) for as long as you maintain the One Military plan.

TMobile's One Military plan would send us two iphone sim cards to swap, port over our phone numbers (my wife and I) for $80/ month out-the-door. I will add that our phones are both paid off and we are under no contract obligations with AT&T, we can port our numbers directly over, and we use autopay. TMobile will be pay as we go, no contract - but the One Military Program rate is a permeant offering and will not disappear in six months or a year.

I was impressed with the no pressure attitude the TMobile folks had - they let me hang up to go call AT&T. Of course I wanted to leverage this over AT&T. I am currently paying an average of $140 a month for two lines with unlimited plus on AT&T. I have been an AT&T customer for 14 years. I called AT&T and spoke to another very nice rep who was familiar with the TMobile offering and, after she pulled up and reviewed my plan, was frank in telling me that she couldn't offer me anything in the ballpark that would be competitive and comparable to the TMobile offering. The best she could do was cut $10 off my bill and restructure my data plan off unlimited and onto a metered plan (which I was a non-negotiable for me.) She also tried to sell me on DirectTV at $10 a month. I told her sorry, but unfortunately we were going to have to go a different direction from AT&T. She said AT&T understood and she was sure that the marketing department was already working up a response to this offering by TMobile.

Called TMobile back and switched. Cost me $8.48 to switch and get the new SIM cards sent in the mail. The rep (same guy) said he has been fielding calls non-stop the past two days from military members swapping over, unlike anything he has seen from a single block of customers in his time with TMobile. Don't know if he was blowing smoke or not, but I can testify there is a good deal of buzz here in the DC area military circles about this program and it made me finally cut away from AT&T. We will see how it shakes out, but if this pans out I will have cut my wireless bill almost in half and eliminated my monthly Netflix expense as well. Pretty solid deal.

TLDR: TMobile One Military - 2 wireless lines w/unlimited everything and Netflix subscription for $80 a month. AT&T cannot complete.

It looks like it's 80 for 2 lines when I click the link. 55 for the first and 25 for the 2nd.

I have been interested in tmobile, but don't know anyone who has it so no idea about the quality of the service.

I use total wireless, Verizon towers, it's 57 for 2 lines with 15 gb of data. We never get close to the data limit, but we do experience some slowing of the network which I believe is related to being an mvno. Also no wireless hotspot which isn't a big deal for me.

I have it in the Dallas area and it's been great. No complaints. It is much better than Sprint's coverage (in DFW), that's for damn sure.

I have Tmobile in New Orleans and probably won't go to another carrier again. We get unlimited data for 2x lines and pay 80$ a month (taxes included). We also happen to pay +60$ a month but that's cause we subsidized our new iPhone 8+'s through them. If I paid that off today, our bill would be $80 flat, after taxes.

Service in New Orleans is just as good as ATT that we had 5 or so years ago.

ETA: Not to mention their T-Mobile Tuesday app that gives random perks every Tuesday. So last week I got $5.50 credit to my Vudu account for a movie rental for free. Often times they give Shell discounts on gas for .30cents per gallon off. Usually ends up being about $5-10 off of gas every month.

I'm more concerned with service in rural areas, I assume I'll get good service in the Memphis metro area, but ilike to have good service when I'm duck hunting in case something goes wrong

The T Mobile Tuesdays app can have some pretty great deals. Right before opening day I got an entire year’s MLB.TV subscription for free. That’s a $115 value.

Yeah, I can't get wireless hotspot any more with my current plan.. but that is all I miss.

I have cricket with 5 phone lines, unlimited everything and up to 5gb high speed data per each line all for $100 even. no tax or overages ever. Their at&t network works better than t-mobile in Louisiana for us. I don't think they offer this any more, it may be up to 4 lines and possibly $10 for the 5th? I am not sure, but they continue to honor the 5th line for me.

I liked t-mobile because of the hotspot, but I don't really need that. Was just nice to have the option.

Are you in New Orleans or a suburb of new Orleans? I just moved here and want to get away from att and the 150 im paying. If TMobile is legit here I'll drop them tomorrow.

T-mobile is great if you end up deploying. Their international plan is probably the best of any of the carriers.

I am working in Afghanistan and I know a lot of people that use their T-Mobile phones over here. I would probably go with them as well, but I have a Google Pixel 2 XL and am on Google Fi phone service and it works great over here, too.

T-Mobile only throttles speeds after 50GB a month AND if you are in a "congested area".

I have had T-Mobile for several years now and previously had attached and Verizon. I like T-Mobile much better, plus save a ton of money.

Just switched my T-Mobile one plan over to the military plan and will be saving even more money now.

I'm in the 'burbs, I guess. I'm west of New Orleans a little in Jefferson parish. But I work in New Orleans and it's just as good.

Jealous. This might be the only phone I'd drop my iPhone 8+ for to be honest. I may swap if I have the money when the Pixel 3 XL comes out.

I just switched from Tmobile One to Cricket. The coverage on Cricket is much better than Tmobile.

And at 90 for three lines all taxes and fees included it is quite a bit cheaper.

Love this phone!! I will probably sell it when the 3XL comes out and buy it. It is what I did going from the 1 to the 2.

I wonder how this Sprint/T-Mobile will affect things, this deal and the coverage.

Also, I looked on T-Mobile’s site and it says up to 5GB at 4G LTE. Do they bump you down after that and wouldn’t that be throttling even though they said they throttle at 50GB?

I think you misread that. The 5GB LTE limit sounds like their tethering cap.
