My bed temp is 110C. I printed some Graphics Card Support brackets for mine and a friend's PCs. I'll post pics in a bit. I'm actually printing ABS right now, when it's done, I'll post.

That's actually a great idea. I wanted to build an enclosure for my printer. I'm gonna scoop a table next time I visit an IKEA. Thanks for sharing.

This is the GPU support I made today with ABS on my Ender 5 Pro with no enclosure. The United one is for my friend's PC.

I used Kodak ABS ordered from Amazon. Print temp 235 and bed set to 110. The rest of my Cura settings gonna be too much to list lol.

If you have problems with your bed not being perfectly flat, go buy a set of 5 mirror tiles from Lowe’s. Glacier bay is the brand I believe. They are 12”x12” so I only lost a few mm of build area on mine. Haven’t had any leveling or adhesion issues since swapping from the original glass to the mirror. Also have a bltouch, but honestly I just manually level every few weeks and run with that.

Just passing this along for possibly cheap filament

Nice! Needed some black PETG asap. Didn't even know I could get it locally in BR. Got a roll of the PLA to try as well.

where you able to order it? looks like it cant be shipped and i cant do in store pick up? the price is also a bit higher than the slick deal ad. Is it in stock? ill go pick some up

ETA: never mind looks like they got black and white PETG and some others that are too low to shoe the stock. I might just run by and see what they got.

Gotta use code WATERMELON in the cart to get the price all the way down. Pretty sure it is a blanket 25% off code too, so if you like crafting, go ham.

ETA: yeah, was able to order for instore pickup and already got the email that it's ready.

This brings up a good question, is there anywhere in Baton Rouge that has a decent selection of filaments?

Picked up my PETG from Joann in BR today and currently running my first PETG print on my Ender 3.
Build plate: 80
Nozzle: 240 (capricorn tubing)
Speed: 40mm/s
Retraction: 4mm (lowered from 6mm for my usual PLA setting bc this model doesn't have a lot of stringing concern)
Layer height: .3mm
Fan: 50% starting at layer 3
CarRamRod, I remember you saying you had bad under extrusion after a few layers using PETG. Same thing happened to me. Layer 1 and 2 went down "perfect" (jury still out until I try to remove when it finishes). I walked up during layer 3 and it was under extruding bad. I held down the knob to get the z offset to pop up, knock it up a notch (.04mm) and it recovered beautifully. Still got a couple hours until it's done. A little nervous because I'm printing on my glass bed despite everyone saying PETG can fuse to glass. But, I got mine from creality so it has that coating on it which I think should negate fusing. Figured worst case scenario it's a $30 learning experience. Anyway, since you installed your BLTouch and have Marline 1.1.9x like me, you may just try raising your z offset to fix your issue. I feel good enough about it to go to bed and let it run, hopefully I don't wake up to a plate of spaghetti

yea my petg experience was because i wasnt hot enough i dont think. But that was just the beginning of my under extrusion experience. So lately i have had a lot of issues. so let me explain how it started. so a print will go fine, get the first layer or 2 down. But when it does the infill on the next layers you start to hear the extruder clicking and jumping back. This puts grooves in the filament which causes more and more friction in the bowden tube. and it gets to a point where the filiament either snaps or the extruder just cant push the filament through. so i figured i brought hot end to high and deformed the ptfe tube.

I got a new all metal hot end. I installed it this friday and went to print and was till getting the underextrusion and deforming the filament. I watched CHEPs video about his ender doing something similar and his problem was the plastic lever on his extruder was broken. Well i have the aluminum one. Come to find out the spring on the aluminum one is slightly longer therfore puts more pressure on the filament.

Well today I snipped a little bit off the spring and boom. i printed a perfect 5 layer cross. So i think it was a combination of the deformed bowden tube and the extruder deforming the filament causing too much friction. Anyway, i have the printermods direct drive kit in and im waiting for my EZR extruder to come in and i hope i can put all this under extrusion behind me.

BTW i also got octoprint up and running. And man even though i have ABL, the the bed visualizer is money! I have my bed under 0.2mm difference across the whole bed.

My print ended up warping from the bed. I spent yesterday morning trying a bunch of things to get the PETG to stick to the glass creality bed and it just wouldn't stick. Like clock work around layer 6 or 7 it would warp up. So, I swapped in the standard build plate that ships with the Ender 3 that is more textured, threw on an 8mm brim, slowed the first layer down to 20mm/s and it printed perfectly with great adhesion to the bed.

That's interesting about the extruder. I have the aluminum one as well with the spring it shipped with and haven't had any issues there. However, I did notice after switching to PETG that the extruder would sometimes squeak like the gear or bearing needed lube. Wasn't causing any problems from what I could tell so I left it alone.

That octoprint looks legit. Probably be my next upgrade.

see i have YET to be able to print on the stock magnetic bed. with all my extrusion issues i cant get anything to stick to it. Once i went glass i havent had ANY issues with sticking. Have you tried using hairspray or glue stick?

I might have messed up my glass bed by scratching off the finish. as you see in this print my z scale was off in my eprom. So when i edited that it messed up my z offset. so the next print gouged the bed and i has some hard particles on my nozzle after. i need to redo my z offset this afternoon. But this was my first shot at octolapse.

a lot of issues with this but came out good. the z scale is off by 1/2, oozing during the picture taken making the glob of spaghetti in the corner. Ill need to play with the retraction to fix this.

My EZR cam in today. debating on installing it and printing or going ahead and installing it and the direct drive setup at the same time and say screw this bowden tube nonsense

The build plate I'm talking about is their base model build plate, not the magnetic one. I didn't try hairspray, glue, etc because the part of the model that was facedown is the part that is actually gonna show on the dash of my truck. Plus I wanted to try to figure out how I can print PETG without needing to mess with all that.

im itching to start experimenting with petg, but i have to get this extrusion crap figured out. I need to print all my structural bracing in Petg. My bed support arms are already cracked where then clip on to the bed.

Once you get ABL get access to a terminal. This is the best way I have found to make your first layer perfect.
