Tell me about the Brave browser.

I've been using Safari on my Mac laptops for decades and tested Brave as an everyday tool and it is way faster. I've used Brave a few times for certain situations but switched because Safari has recently become a dog.
I know Brave is built on Chrome but why is it better? However, there are a few things I do not like. Do the Google extensions compromise the supposed security Brave seemingly provides?

I have used birding but brave on my desktops and phones for about 3 years now and wouldn't dream of going back to anything else.

I search for nudes of Sydney Sweeney on my dad’s iPad. Does that make me a brave browser?

I have been using the Brave browser for years, but on the Linux and Windows platforms. The Chrome extensions do not affect the security of the Brave browser, and if they did it would be shouted all over the Linux forums, and probably a few of the Windows forums too. I use it on my Android phone as well. What brave does very well is block 3rd party cookies, stops redirects, unless you allow it, and it blocks YouTube ads very well. There is another very secure browser out there called Thorium. It is also Chrome based. It works just like Brave, but the browser is currently only supported by the original developer and is slow to upgrade, or add features.

I have no idea how to tell if these stats are true or not but holy shite.

Thanks. There are few annoyances with Brave that piss me off. One is the bookmark favorites under the search bar. It shows an icon as well as the name of the website. I don't need both. On Safari I have just the name. This provides more favorites to be visible. Much better in my opinion.

Brave is like chrome but stripped down to be lighter, faster and more secure/private. I have used Brave exclusively on all my devices (ipads, iphones, android phones, PC, etc.) for several years.
The only thing I would recommend is to use a password manager like Bit Warden with it as it will do a bit better at providing a consistent sharing of your passwords between all devices.

Use folders in the bookmark bar. Dont keep bookmarks directly in the bookmarks bar.
EDIT: I hit enter too early. But if you just want to use bookmark icons in the bookmark bar, just edit the bookmark in the bar and delete the title. It will just show as an icon at that point.

I don't keep many bookmarks as a rule except for work which is a requirement with all the qa, staging and production equipment I have to hit.
Years ago I got into the habit of renaming all of these bookmarks so it was clear what everything is. Some websites just have crazy long titles so you have to do this for sanity.

I just want the word. The icon is the issue but deleting the words might be a suitable compromise.

I don't use the whole URL. I shorten it to one word or abbreviation.
I aslo hate the Brave icon to the right of the search bar. It is right where my notifications pop up is. So I'm constantly distracted by the red icon thinking it is important.

This, regardless of the browser you use.

Best browser in the game, combined with DuckDuckGo as the search engine.
