Looking for any recommendations on an alternative to Teamviewer. I've been using this for years because it has been free for "personal" use. I've been using it more frequently as I have more computers I have to tap in to so it looks like they have now started to categorize my account as "professional" which means I'll have to start paying $50-100 a month to use.

If there are no alternatives, then I'll just pay the fee but figured I'd ask if anyone had any experience with other services that also offer a free version.

I just need to be able to tap into 8-10 computers and control them from my laptop running windows and also my home computer which is a Mac.

I've come close to finding one in AeroAdmin, which seems almost identical to teamviewer but unfortunately it looks like it will not work on my Mac.

Too bad for the garbage Mac, you could have just used RDP and not had to pay anything.

I'm sure you can make windows RDP work for Macs, but it's not as easy as opening a port.

I'm not too familiar with apple products but I know you can use remote desktop, as far as VPN, apple dropped PPTP support natively. Couldn't get it to work with an app on an ipad either, however you should be able to find a VPN client for the mac.

Bomgar went up in price as well to 1300 a year. If anyone knows anyway to get a discount I'd appreciate a hook up.

I have the Chrome Remote Desktop up and running and I haven't ran in to any issues, it's doing exactly what I need so far.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Might as well just give Page, Brin and the entire US intelligence community a 24/7 webcam in your bedroom.

BTW, Zoho Assist is pretty awesome and like $15 a month for 50 computers I think.

You really think they need chrome remote desktop to access your computer? I think they have a key to about anything they want to open on the hardware level. (Same for the Chinese who made it)

VNC has been around for ages and is 100% free. The only thing it doesn't do that stuff like TV or LogMein, etc, does is forward ports for you and translate them via port 80 http. Meaning stuff like teamviewer "just works" after you install the client.

So without getting too technical, if you start using VNC instead you just have to remember to forward ports (5900 is VNC's default) in the routers for VNC to the remote machine if the machines you are accessing are on different networks than the one you are currently on.

rdp will log out the user while they are on. If they are having an issue i need to see it does me no good to rdp if it logs them off.
