My TCL is a little past a year old. I have had to correct fuzzy screen issues a number of times (thanks youtube!). A couple of weeks ago, the screen went black. I had to fight with it (resetting, unplugging, restarting, etc.) to get it back on. The next day, same thing. Every day, at least two or three times, the screen would go black. This morning, I did a factory reset and it appears as though I may have fixed the issue.

I'm guessing this is a common problem since there are numerous youtube videos on how to correct this. Is this just a TCL problem? I know one thing, the new flat screens are not even one tenth as reliable a the old tube tvs. My last two tube tvs both lasted 20+ years. (I also had another flat screen crap out after about four years.)

Anyway, if you're having this problem and nothing you try seems to work, try the factory reset.

Interestingly enough, I’m about to trash my 3 y.o. TCL because it won’t come on/black screen.
Can’t get anything on the screen so I don’t think I can reset anything…

Crazy. This past Thursday night, I turned my 2 year old TCL on and got no screen. I get a tad bit of light on the screen, enough to tell that it's on, but can't see any sort of picture. I've reset, unplugged several times. I gave up and ordered another tv. I've never had a tv fail in such a short amount of time. I sure as shite won't get another TCL.

TCL TV’s are easy enough to repair with parts from shopjimmy. Replacing every board and all the LED’s will run about $50 - $75 and maybe 30 minutes of your time.

Thanks for the info, that might be handy in the future. I checked and the boards for my tv were $175 and all were out of stock. I paid 750 for the tv, so I'm just going to cut my losses on this one.

TCL Roku tv black screen issue

I have 2 of these for about a year now. Hoping I don't run into a problem, but they were cheap enough that I guess I'll just toss them if it does happen.

I also have a 75" JVC Roku that quit working after about 7 months. Been dealing with JVC customer service for the past 4. Tried to get them to refund me but they keep trying to find someone to fix it.

I can't believe people are still buying Chinese electronics.

Even the electronics "Made in the USA" are likely assembled of Chinese parts.
