My 2 year old Moto X Pure has turned to garbage the last 3 months. As soon as the battery hits 19% the phone dies. Doesn't help the battery drains much faster now than it did when I first got it. Resetting the phone hasn't helped so time for a new phone.

I had a Moto X Pure as well, and am running into the same problems. It was a great phone for awhile, but o well,
I just bought an Essential off of Amazon as well. Got nervous because I didn't read your review before hand, but glad to see you had great things to say.

Looking forward to trying it out.

Just a heads up if anyone uses Sprint, you can lease this phone for $5 a month. As soon as you get it you can pay off the lease for $125.

I just got the phone for $125 outright and love it so far. Really nice device. I love that they stuck to stock android for the most part.

I just got mine yesterday but was at work last night and just had the chance to set it up. My signal performance is a lot weaker than my note 5.. Gonna use the tail period as much as I can to see if it's usable in all the locations I travel, if so I'll deal with it! Other than that I like the size of the phone and haven't experienced and lagging like in the Reddit thread yet! I haven't upgraded to Oreo beta and probably won't. So far so good for me!

Couple of places I go I realized I don't have service. Thought it was odd since my wife's Moto had service and in out house our signal strength was identical. Downloaded LTE discovery app and realized that I was on band 12 while my wife's was on band 4. Because the essential couldnt latch on to the faster band 4 it had to drop back to the wide band 700mhz. Her phone beside mine on identical bands is 12dBm higher signal strength, which is a pretty significant difference. My phone is almost always on the slower 700mhz band while hers is on the faster band 4. Then when I go into a building I'll lose band 12 while hers drops from 4 to 12 and keeps coverage while mine loses coverage. Love the phone. Love the screen. Software works just fine. Battery life is great. But if I can't rely on a signal then it is pretty much just a fancy brick.
