System for car

I’ve been out of the game too long. I may want to relive my youth a little. Have an Acura RDX aspec and remember seeing a couple people on here do recommendations for systems based on your vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

First thing I would do is search for a message board related to that vehicle. I learned exactly what to get for my truck that way.

I don't disagree with AlxTgr's suggestion, but auto specific forums turn into nerd fests real fast.
Honestly, I'd start with Crutchfield to at least establish a baseline of "improvement" and tweak a bit from there. I find that the mixing of the music has a far bigger impact than what speakers and amps are in my stock car. I can play metal and still see out of my rear view mirror. But, I put on some old school Snoop, and I can't see anything because of the vibration.

That’s how I did it in high school. Pioneer deck, 5 1/4 in the front door, 6 1/2 in the back, and a ported JL12 bridged on a mtx amp. Then I started working on a system of 4 12’s in a custom box with 2 facing each other so they’d move off each others air but never got around to putting that one in a car before my younger brothers friends stole 2 of the 4 12’s.
My car already has a factory 8 in the back. I think I want something that I can take in and out as far as not having a full time big box in my car.

What car? Make, Model and year. This will determine a lot. Depending, you have to add a DSP first to your existing system. If it is an older vehicle; you can change out the head unit. After that go for your speakers (budget for some good ones); an amp(s), subwoofer’s etc.
I just replaced the head unit, new speakers, added an amp and compact powered subwoofer for my 2005 Tundra SR5 Access Cab.

Definitely need to know the year and audio options. I just helped my son bypass the amp in his 2018, accord, replace all of the speakers, add 2 amps, and a subwoofer. Sounds fantastic.

My favorite setup was 2 10s in a box behind the seats in my single cab Ford Ranger. Literally had issues breathing when it was bumping, and it was relatively cheap. #EnlistedDecisions

If that is the ELS system, you may need professional help with that many channels. You can probably tap into the sub channel and improve the base pretty easily though.

This is an expensive drop-in speaker upgrade with Audison speakers. I bet it sounds great though.
