My Pixel 3a is crapping out after latest Android update. I'm not thrilled with any of the sub $500 Android offerings in US, so I'm considering my first iphone. Probably the X, XR, XS.

Everything I own is either Windows or Google though (all my photos are on Google), music is Spotify, smartwatch is Samsung etc.

Is it dumb to buy an iphone if nothing else is Apple ?

I am a basic phone user btw. Social Media (FB webpage(not the app), email, texting, web browsing, online banking app, photos.. no gaming etc

Want great battery life, great camera, and decent speed

Which iphone is best for under $500

I use Windows everything and have an iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch. Use apps that are platform agnostic and it is pretty much a seamless experience.

What I use:

Browser - Chrome
Password App - Last pass
Email - Outlook
Cloud - Dropbox
Documents - Word/Excel
Notes - One Note
Tasks: Microsoft To Do
Music: Spotify/Apple Music

Stay away from apps that lock you in.

Have you checked Swappa? There are unused phones there at huge savings.

I've had an Xr since last January, and very pleased with it. I use Spotify, backup photos to Google, and have an Apple Watch. I think the only things you might miss out on smartwatch functionality are iMessages. All of our devices in the house are Amazon/Ring, and the iPhone works great across those. I get Ring notifications and Alexa notifications on my iPhone, as long as you download those apps and allow notifications.

I just went through this. I've had Android for 10 years and just got rid of my Pixel 4 for the Iphone 12. Bought an Ipad and it seemed smart to get that. Actually really enjoying the phone.

Like others have said, all of the Google apps now run seamlessly on the iphones. There are even an couple of Youtube videos out there titled "Apple makes the best Google phone." Some of the messaging features are really neat. My wife and I are also enjoying the Reminders app and having a "family" list that we can share and update for each other with real time changes.

Get whatever phone the rest of your family has. All of my family (wife's side and mine) use iphone, so it's just easier having an iphone. We did Samsung Galaxy once, and while I like a lot of the features, it's just easier everyone using the same thing

Getting an iPhone just because everything else is Windows or Google isn’t a problem. It’s 2020 and most things integrate well.

With an iPhone you get excellent hardware and software and security. Jump in , the water is fine.
