I haven’t cut my dish tv off yet at the farm and it currently is not getting a signal but m starlink is working fine.

Best thing yet for “rural broadband”!!!

Don’t worry…that excitement fades.

It’s better than satellite TV (or internet) in terms of reception during inclement weather. But it will still lose it.

Prices went up, speeds went down. I’m still satisfied with it, but it’s not the endgame. Hopefully some of this infrastructure money will give us some better options.

Yep, same. Mine will lose signal during heavy ish rain and speeds aren’t nearly what they used to be (but they used to be super fast). Add that to the increase in price and I’m still happy with starlink when compared to the shitty alternatives I have, but not blown away like I was at the beginning.

Mine goes out but only if it is raining really hard.

My speed has gone up since the last update.

It’s truly a game changer for me. I used HughesNet then Viasat. Neither would allow buffer-free streaming. Viasat worked better than HughesNet. Neither came close to what I have with Starlink.

Website still says “early to mid” year for me. Have they just given up on my area?

All over the map for me, but much better than my other options.

Ping is anywhere from 50-150 ms normally.

Your bad problems seem to happen generally during peak usage times. This makes me think it's more often a capacity thing (would be interesting to see the local, area and regional weather conditions at the times those tests were run).

No doubt. Weather and capacity. Both of which are normal, naturally occurring things.

Hence my initial response to this thread that the excitement will fade once reality sets in. In general, it’s still great. But it’s not the ultimate solution for me or my neighbors.

Have y'all tried TMobile 5G Home Internet or Verizon Home Internet? Really depends on your location on whether or not TMobile or Verizon is good in your area.

Just 2 diff. ideas.
