Sound Bar for TV - A must?

Side thread here to see if I get a quicker response.
Mounting our TV likely today, and trying to figure out if we need to add a Sound bar or it will be fine.
If so without breaking the bank, which one to go with? I see theres multiple types other than just the one you mount under the TV

Budget?
Yes, a sound bar generally is vastly superior to TV sound.

Considering I had to go with A TCL TV at the moment, that will let you know what I am going to accomplish right now....

Proper Speaker setup >>>>>>>>>> Soundbar >>>>>>>>>> TV Audio

Even mid-tier brands do great, comparatively speaking.
You would want to get a relatively common or known brand, so you could add speakers if/when the next Dolby sound requires more. I started with a 5+1, got on sale somewhere years ago, and a Yamaha receiver. I upgraded the receiver with a newer one when things went to 4k, and 2 more speakers when things went to 7 + 1.
With this config, I look solely at tv picture, don't care if it's smart or not (I prefer to use external firestick anyway). The tv is 'just' a monitor.
I'm lucky it's an older house, and the room is a big rectangle (and not open like a lot of newer rooms), I have laid out the speakers properly, with my TV against one of the narrower walls... so it's similar in layout to a theater. My couch is 3/4 of the way back from the TV, in the sweet spot for the surround sound experience. The two rear speakers are slightly behind and to the sides. Many years into this setup, I'm still pleasantly surprised by hearing all the little details coming over my shoulders. Car doors, voices on the periphery, things like that, distinct and clear.

I cannot imagine not having a sound bar.
Vizio is the easy budget answer. For a great review channel, try this guy.

I would determine your budget, then look at 3-4 different options based on that and read the reviews/specs. Most of them will probably be pretty similar since you aren't spending a ton of money.

TCL Soundbar with tower isn't bad, not super fancy but does the job well enough. Just got one about two months back for $99 from Walmart for the 50" TCL I have in the front room. Will get two more for the entertainment room 65" TCL.
Going to get two more of them

It used to be I couldn’t stand going to people’s houses without HD. Now with that no longer being an issue, I don’t like going to watch games at a friend’s if they don’t have a decent sound setup. What a difference/how grumpy old man you become once you have a quality sound system.

understand that completely....
Thats why I'm looking to get it right.
Went to bestbuy at lunch. They had a 30-40 one that was simple as it gets... Then also saw a vizio setup at Sams for 129.
I would say for now I'm just looking to go with the one under the TV
