I would not get a 2020 Sony TV. No HDMI 2.1 for future proofing when all the others have it. Samsung Q80T is better or a 2019 Q70/80R if you can find them.

Wanted to say thanks for all the great help. I’m going to take a look at all the options presented!

I'll say this, i love the fact that my sony is an AndroidTV. I much prefer it over having a FireTv or Roku, and i haven't had cable in almost 5 years now. It has every app anyone would need, and it's one remote. The RokuTV is similar, but it doesn't have the abilities the AndroidTV does if you wanted to things like IPTV or Kodi, but i don't use either anymore.
That being said, i don't know what apps the Samsung Hub supports as far as streaming options go (hulu/Youtube) but i'm pretty sure it has the others like ESPN/FoxSports/Netflix/HBO). I think the Samsung is the best bang for your buck right now, and has one of the best picture's out there. If you are a cord cutter, i'd look into the samsung hub, unless you don't mind using a streaming device.
I can't stand having more than one remote, which is why i love my Sony AndroidTV as a cord cutter.

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying he can get the same refresh rate, resolution, etc for a fraction of the cost. That Sony is a great TV but you can find one comparable for 2k cheaper and get a streaming box for 200 that will outperform it’s smart features.
First off, most people buying a higher end, or even mid range level tv, can afford a $200 streaming box (I think the roku ultra is only $100). And who’s to say he wasn’t gonna buy one anyway? But why do you keep harping on resolution and refresh rate?? You are aware that there is way more to a tv than that these days, correct?
It would make much more sense if you were just arguing that you can still get a nice tv for cheaper than $4k, or that you would buy a $2k TV and spend the extra on a nice sound system. But the reasons for your argument are very odd and don’t make much sense. But maybe this is a troll post, if so then hats off

ETA: and the $2k 85” options at Best Buy aren’t comparable to the 950H

Dolby Vision and Local Dimming for starters.

Didn't say whether it was or wasnt worth $2,000 more. Just said they arent really comparable.
Saumsung is edge lit with no local dimming, very low brightness (wont do HDR any justice), no wide color gamut (wont do HDR any jutsice), very poor color gradients which causes banding, and has a 60hz refresh rate along with other stuff. Rtings.com has all this info. The samsumg may be a great option for someone who isnt very picky or isnt concerned with watching HDR movies/tv shows and all that, but the 2 tvs arent that similar

Yeah if he was wanting to save some money and get a better TV in the process the Q80T is $500 cheaper and better all around.
