LINK
looks that way. I don't use plex, and this link is for a normal chromecast, not the chromecast audio.
But if i had to guess you could fling music from your plex account on your phone to your speakers. Just a guess though.

Surely it does. Plex was among the first 10 apps supported by the original Chromecast at launch.

Hey brah, stay on topic. OP wants an answer.
True.
OP this product is not for you. It's not cheap and is rock solid. You won't find them in the discount bin at your Home Depot.

quote:true. I grab everything possible as flac and then let Google music transcode it to 320kbps when it syncs but I never know if Google is actually converting my files or using their own copy that matches mine. I don't think you can control that.
what really rubs me the wrong way is that there is an entire generation (or more) that has grown up listening to compressed music and that has no idea what it's missing in fidelity.

Where did I say that ?
I don't know anything about Hue but I sell a shite load of go control. So no jealousy here brah. I got a warehouse full of it.
My point is you aren't going to get a deal on this and it is IMO a bit overpriced. So it's not for you.

Those used ones on Amazon are still expensive. But prove me wrong sir and go buy a system for your house.

This thread has gotten a bit off topic, but I'll add my personal experience with Chromecast Audio. In short, I really like them. I have one plugged into my main 5.1 receiver downstairs and another to some powered bookshelf speakers in my bedroom.
You can group Chromecast Audios into groups and it will set up a group cast target and sync the audio across the devices. And it will work with any chromecast enabled app that sends audio (Play Music, TuneIn, etc.).
I'm sure Sonos is great, but it is pricey, and I think you can put together a Chromecast system that sounds as good but is cheaper. If you just want an install and forget it solution, I'm sure Sonos is great.
ETA: The Chromecast audio can output optically, so you can choose the DAC for your system if you like.

A big arse surround system with an AVR is no longer part of my lifestyle. I want smaller speakers that I can sprinkle through my house and get whole house music.
My house is 4200sf and was a fixer upper so the music is literally the last thing on the list.
We've been limping along with Bluetooth speakers, a soundbar I can play into and a huge loudspeaker down by the pool.

Beacuse CAD
Having some smart devices doesn't mean you have an automated home.

Well damn that's a deal. That's cheaper than I can buy it direct from SONOS. You should jump on that, or at least share the link with others here that are looking to buy.
