SONOS announces new Sonos Amp

This new version outputs 125 watts per channel at 8 ohms; it can power four speakers instead of two. The additional power makes the Amp more versatile than its predecessor, too. Sonos says the Amp can be used to add stereo sound to a TV (thanks in part to HDMI Arc support) or add wireless rears to a Sonos theater setup. Or, two Amps can be used to add a complete surround sound system. Multiple Amp units can be stacked or mounted in a rack. The Amp works with AirPlay 2 and with Alexa when used in conjunction with an Amazon Alexa-enabled Sonos device like a Sonos One or Beam.

Doesn't do anything new for me but I'm already all in on the Sonos bandwagon in my living room. This seems targetted for the consumer that's got pre-existing speakers and a setup.
I'm kinda glad Sonos's stock took a tumble recently. Gonna make them stop sitting around and innovate or die, in my opinion.

We don’t hate Sonos. I have a couple of Play 3 in my house. I use them for what they are. Glorified boomboxes with decent sound.
What I’m not going to do is to mistake Sonos for high quality sound. It’s decent sound at a premium price.

I’m glad to see they are improving the product. The current model has no balls, looks like they put a set on the new version. Making them stackable is also a much needed improvement.

Stream though a bridge to your receiver using flac gets you pretty damn great sound.
These are more suited for basic listening or perfect for running 2 pair of outdoor speakers

I have a pair of Bose speakers connected to my desktop that sound better. I like Sonos, but I don't buy their stuff for superior sound quality.
