Sling TV thoughts

I am thinking of cutting the cord with Directv; it seems every month they go up on my bill for some BS reason and I am tired of calling. I just got the loyalty discount around Christmas but went up on my bill for other crap.
I am looking to go with Sling TV or something like that and was just wondering if its worth the switch. Also the monthly rates are just for one TV/box right? TIA

i have the sling blue with philo at about 40 a month. If you are single and only need one stream then the skies the limit. If you have a family you have to be able to stream on more than 2 tvs/devices at once. The sling blue and philo you can stream 3 tvs or devices at the same time. These two give me all the good channels for about half the price of some other packages. At this price i also subscribe to netflix . All this for around 50 bucks a month.

I tried the free trial and had both packages plus sports. To me, it really wasn't worth it. I have an HD attenae that gets me locals and still have logins for espn. Add Netflix & Hulu and I don't miss cable one bit. Not much on TV for me personally that makes me want to shell out $600+/yr for the service. Now if they offered a tiered setup and I could pick a certain amount of specific channels for a set price, then I'd be in.

I have it and enjoy it but really only have it for sports. If I had someone else's ESPN login I would just use that and cancel sling.

I'm going to renew mine in August and keep it through January. ESPN works fine during most of the season, but when it is crappy it is really crappy. Kicking me out of feeds, buffering, some weird thing where the screen turns green. But if I switch over to Sling, it is perfect. I had been using a log in for a while, but had to get something else for the bowl season. It also seems to change channels quickly if I'm watching more than one game. Unlike ESPN app where I have to exit the feed then find the other feed, wait a few seconds, then it starts up.

Your wifi needs to be fast, but it’s good for sports. I use it when I travel to be able to catch games that hotels may or may not have. I’ll switch back & forth from the orange & blue packages depending on the sport pretty often.
One thing I discovered that’s kind of a drag is when I want to catch a Preds game on a Fox South affiliate is that they totally switch over when you’re in a different region. It’s also a little cheap that an orange + package still only gives you one stream even though it’s the same price as blue.

I'd suggest giving Vue a try. Vue has a free DVR and the overall quality is pretty hard to beat. I have the Core package at $45 a month. Comes with basic sports channels (ESPN, FS1, NBCSN, CBS Sports, plus MLB, NFL, and NBA TV). You can have 5 streams at once as well. Drawbacks are no Viacom channels or NBC, Fox, and ABC if you live in BR area.

Same here. Sling had buffering issues all the time when we were watching live TV and now it hardly ever happens.

I have the orange package and the sports add-on. Hard to beat for $25/month.
I've been a day one user for sling. For $25 there isn't anything that comes close. The streaming sucked on an Xbox one originally. Switched over to a firetv and everything has been great since.

I haven’t had technical issues for month. Was ready to drop it and they magically fixed themselves. The channel selection and on demand choices are ideal for me. I get every sports channel I need
