Any affordable recommendations? Any Memorial Day sales out there?

Over there, Speed Queen is usally recomennded. I recently upgraded and got Kenmore Elites. Same as my prior set that lasted me about 16 years. So far, I'm pleased.

Don't get a set. Get cheap dryer, good washer if you want to save money. Put budget towards washer. I have a Maytag Bravos xl which has been excellent.

We have been very happy with the Maytag Commercial set. The pair was about $1500 a few years ago. Pretty basic functionality but very fast wash times and they don't break. They were only available at appliance stores back then so not sure if the big box stores have them.

Stick with Whirlpool or anything made by Whirlpool. They make a lot of brands.
Spend as little as you can for the size you need.
You'll still have clean/dry clothes.
I agree, stay away from LG/Samsung.
Speed Queen may be the bee's knees but you'll pay a lot more for it.

The Costco LG deal is a front page deal on slickdeals. Those models were the highest rated in consumer reports.
