Samsung is full of shite

I got a good deal on a 55 inch curved Samsung. I was hoping that it would directly connect to Smart Things, but it wouldn't. I then go to Smart Things support to look to see if I was doing something wrong and saw this:
Of course, mine doesn't have those characters in the serial number. Nothing to get too mad over, but then I went to Samsung's site and they themselves only have one fricking t.v. that is compatible, ONE!
What in the ever loving frick kind of shite is that? How hard is it to write some code to make your second biggest sold item compatible with a "hub" you're pushing? I mean you're pushing these tvs on their smart capabilities, but they don't connect to the application that is smart as well.
All of your other devices are fine that don't sell nearly as well as your tvs are compatible, but not the tvs themselves. Got to love that

Under Product information, look for the 14-character Model Code. If the 5th and 6th characters in the code are "KU" or "KS" followed by the number "6" or above, then your Samsung TV is compatible and can be connected to your SmartThings Hub as a Thing!

That is the model number not serial number

I’m confused. Did they advertise that the TV you bought was compatible with SmartThings?

Actually, I wouldn’t assume anything would integrate into a smart hub. I get that both are Samsung products and it would make sense for them to integrate. But the smart hub ecosystems are still in the scheme of things pretty new and not mature. I wouldn’t buy something expecting it to integrate unless I saw specifically that it would. But I do get where you might assume that.

True, this is relatively new application of an existing technology, but I thought they'd at least have all of their own products integrated first. I just don't want to have to go out and buy a Harmony Hub now. I guess I will take back the Smart Things since my lights connect directly to Google Home.

This feels like a CAD rant.

It might help you if you knew the history of smartthings. Samsung didn't build it...they bought out that company much like Google bought nest.
It will take some time for the integration to propagate across their product lines.

Makes sense. Its cool though. Google Home can control the T.V. to a certain extent through Chromecast
