My 2013 MBP needs a new battery. Think I’m gonna go the DIY route. Any recommendations on where to get the battery/ kit to do it? Looking at ifixit.com and also see some stuff on Amazon.

I've done the DIY route on a 2012 MBP. I bought the battery from someone on Ebay, OEM battery 100% new, and watched some Youtube vids of replacing it. It's easy to replace, the fishing wire method of removing the old battery works great, but I have not seen nearly the battery life as I did when it was new.

I used iFixit and it went pretty well. dumbest shite ever, gluing a laptop battery to the case. comes up pretty easy with a little heat and a credit card.

Find your model on iFixit and they'll have details on how to change it. I think they also have links to the part. If you need tools they'll have those for sale as well.

I love that these things stay modern and zippy long enough to justify replacing a battery on a 7.5 year old laptop.
