Would it work from the house to outdoor kitchen in backyard?

If so, which one do y'all recommend?

Do Google WiFi. I made the switch and could not be happier.

Go with Hawking. My shop is 150 ft from the house. I use a Hawking amplified antenna and a Hawking range extender. Have used them for several years. Very reliable and reasonably priced equipment. Got that recommendation from a friend who's in that line of work..

Google WiFi

How many features does Google Wifi not support? I read it doesn't support VPN, which is needed for some people. Anything else?

This. Don't try to do this with normal consumer level equipment, especially if the distance is somewhat far away from the house. It will either likely have enough signal and will seem to be very slow or will randomly disconnect. Hawking and Unifi make equipment especially for this kind of thing.
