I've never even seen a way to completely choose the group yourself.

I just noticed a week or two ago that you can customize your grouping now. It doesn't appear to give you every game option on but most of them.

Do you see that when you hit down to go to "change multi view"?

Thing I love about YouTube tv is being able to invite family and friends at no extra cost. My daughter has the sub and we split the cost.

YTTV lets you share with a family group of up to 5 others in the household.

What if you want to share with persons outside the household, like a kid in college or grandma in another state? I watched a YT video where a guy explained that if anyone family sharing is logged on outside your home wifi, it will kick them off after 3 months. (This allows for you to engage in reasonable travel and such.) To get around it, they have to log in at the main/home location with their login and password within that time to get a fresh three months. The guy said that he just periodically logs his kids in at his house and keeps them going forever. A bit of a PITA, but worth the effort as long as YTTV continues offering family sharing.

I do this and with a Roku or Apple TV it is easy. My family accounts only had to be logged in once on the roku or apple TV at my house. At the first of the month every month I just switch to each of their user accounts for 5 seconds of live video. Never had a disconnection issue.

The only real nag with this setup is when they are in different local channel markets, they cannot watch recordings on the OTA channels as they are recording because they record on the home local station only. So they can watch the regional local channels live at their location or they can wait for the recording to end and then start watching on DVR.

Also, you only get 3 streams to share at once for outside the home.
