1. Do we have any on this board?
2. What kind of antenna do you have that gives you great reception for OTA?
3. Do you have a DVR that you are happy with (Tablo, TIVO, Amazon Recast, whatever else...)
4. Do you have recommendations on ANYthing regarding cord cutting and this geological area??

I plan on using Eatel and Usenet for hobbying...like I used to when I was younger...

Are you hooked on OTA?

Why not YouTube TV?

I am not in the area, but have family out there... just switched them to YouTube TV completely.

I'm just not wild about YouTube. I'd rather use Amazon and local OTA.

I had an antenna in the attic of my previous home. It wasn't really that reliable. I now have YoutubeTV and it's much better than it used to be. I get all of the locals and then all of the sports I want. Can log in from my phone or ipad if needed. I will probably never have cable or an antenna ever again

I just use YoutubeTV and Eatel for internet. I had an antenna in the attic of my old house, but my attic had the radiant barrier, which distorted the antenna reception. YoutubeTV works great with DVR, getting the sports channels, locals, etc. And it's still cheaper to go with YTTV and Eatel internet, instead of Eatel for full service.

Use attic/outside Antenna--no issues with local and most NOLA channels.

Prefer stream service for live (Beast) and Cinema HD for movies. I also got Netflix free from T-Mobile and Amazon Prime. There is literally nothing I can not see live, sports, or movies/tv. Everything goes thur a NVidia Shield.

That’s the entertainment package we have plus Paramount, which I think we are going to drop. How big is the antenna?

I AM planning on mounting in the attic. It’s the task of running the wire to the TV/DVR that really seems daunting. Going to try and go through the old cable plate.

We are also trying to figure out what DVR to get, so we’ve been reading reviews on them. So far the Tablo seems to fit the bill. We want to be able to record 4 at a time.

Thanks, everyone!

I’ve had plex and Tablo and prefer Tablo 100x over between the two.

Years ago I had the ATI TV card and antenna that came with it. Wasn’t impressed and that’s why I’m not planning an HTPC. My wife is savvy enough to fix issues when I’m not here, but I want this as painless a setup as possible.

We just kicked the Eatel internet up to the $99/mo tier. I’m happy with it. Was speculating about the possibility of two directional antennas...one aimed at BR and one aimed at NOLA to see what I get. Or would that be a single Omni-directional antenna? Still have more research to do. I see there are DYI antennas, too. Nvidia Shield Pro: never looked into that. On my list for tonight.

Have not heard of the NewsOn app. Will look at that tonight.

Tablo is at the top of my list, currently. I’ve read nothing but good things about the recent versions.

Thanks, y’all!

I like Tablo because it’s in the attic with my antenna to no cords. It has WiFi and a great interface

I'm not far from you and use ClearStream 4 Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna in the attic. I've had it for 8 years and pick up everything I want and more. I used YTTV and have moved on when they went way up on price.
