I didn't want to start a new thread so there's a bonus question at the end of this one about Vimtag cameras.

Main question: I upgraded from AT&T Internet 300 (300 mbps) to AT&T fiber Internet 1,000 (1,000 mbps). Where am I supposed to see a difference? With that sort of jump I thought it would be noticeable but I don't see any difference in my streaming, Internet browsing, etc. I really only use Internet for surfing the web on my phone and streaming via Apple TV. I don't do any gaming or large work projects at home.

The price difference was somehow the same ($60/mo) for Internet 100, 300, and 1,000 so obviously I went with fiber but I'm not seeing a difference.

I have a relatively small house so signal strength should not be an issue. Just odd that I can't really tell any difference.

Bonus question: Have had this for about 6-7 years. Usually just use it to keep an eye on the cat when I go out of town (she’s hardly ever in view). Ever since I got it I noticed the app, instructions, etc. are all written in butchered English. As I suspected, the company is Chinese. I’m not one to wear a tinfoil hat but are they on the up and up? Anyone else use these?

I know I’ve got a ton of Chinese-made devices but none that are constantly observing. Just curious if any of y’all use Vimtag products?

What do you mean where are you supposed to see it? Loading a webpage would take the same amount of time on gig, 300, or 100. Streaming 10 streams of 4k will show a difference. Your latency has surely gotten better.

Did they actually come to your house and install the fiber Line?

You don't need Gb speed then. You would mainly need that if you have a bunch of devices streaming video at the same time.

Most households don't currently use enough bandwidth to notice a jump from 300 to 1000. Only power users and people who download a lot, especially torrents, would notice much of a difference.

Also, if you're using WiFi you'll not get that gig throughput anyway.

Not really. Once you are fiber, they are essentially entering an artificial "speed" limit in their system. Latency should really stay the same.
