Projector screen advice

I’m looking for advice on affordable options for a portable rear projector system. I want to be able to set up a screen behind my band and project graphics onto the screen on stages. Any advice on what kinds of projectors I should look at?

As always with this type of question, budget is a major parameter. What size screen are you looking to do. Also just to confirm when you say rear projection you're talking about the projector being behind the screen not in front. (I.e. most home theater type setups are front projection.)
I haven't dealt specifically with rear projection but most projectors have a setting for that (you want the image flipped left-right) so they can handle it. I'd also think you want something with some high brightness. There are some pretty good options out there in the $1000 or a little less range that spec 3000 lumens or so. For example, Optoma GT1080HDR at $799 might be a good option. Epson makes a bunch in this range too.
You can try checking Projector Central's database and filter on various features.

UST is probably a really good suggestion, but they're also more expensive by at least $1500.

Nothing cheap about good projectors though. But a cheap one might work what you need it for.
