Problems with Router and Modem in attic in South La?

I have cox internet in BR and moved both in attic about 2.5 years ago. Obviously it's hot as hell and the inevitable has occurred and Internet seems to be going out midday last few days. I took everything out brought them down for an hour and it now works fine. My router is prolly 5.5 years old.
Have any of you experienced this and what did you have to move boxes out of attic?

An attic is way too hot in the summertime for almost any kind of electronics gear. I carved out a tech closet on the second floor, insulated it, and put a louvered door on it to house all of my electronics, i.e., internet gateway, alarm, TV tuners, router, switches, and VoIP phone system.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the components have experienced some heavy degradation. They can handle some high heat environments, but by high heat I mean an ambient temperature of around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I know my attic can get much, much hotter than that. Even if a 100 degree threshold is a conservative limit set by the manufacturer, I guarantee a standard unfinished attic in a Louisiana summer is still well beyond a reasonable operating temperature range.

All electronic equipment requires safe operating conditions. This is an example.
Cable Modem/Router with Wireless-N - Cox Communications
Page 2:
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Do NOT expose to water or moisture.
Do NOT use the cable modem outdoors. Keep the cable modem in an environment that is between 0°C and 40°C (between 32°F and 104°F).
User manuals are our friend.

I have my modem and routers in the attic and have had no problems. Someone recommended a fan, but I never saw the need.
At 5 years old, prolly time for a new router

I have an old router and the modem is rented. I put my stuff in the attic in October and just thought I'd see how it went. Never problem until this last week but it's clearly the heat. I moved everything down and it works fine.
I just need to figure out to reorganize a little.

The stupidity sometimes.
