Guys,

I’m from the generation of which an upgrade meant paying $0.99 cents for the best new phone (the latest and greatest btw) as an enticement to sign for 2 years.

Somehow, phones are now 1k-2k dollars.

How did y’all let this happen!?

Budget phones are $400-$500.

My phone is 2012 model. Any tips, hacks, or strong arms to get the price down?

Looking at iPhone SE 2020.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Isn't the SE about $400? You won't find many good phones less than that. Sorry Pops.

Well look at it this way, plasma TVs used to cost like $10k for a 40" screen. Now you can get a smart 4k 65" TV for like $500. Sure, you could spend $10k on an 85" 8k TV with all the bells and whistles, but why?

The capability of a $1.5k phone is not really that much greater than the $400 SE already mentioned. After a certain point, you have to ask yourself why are you buying a top of the line phone if all you need is an entry level, when entry level is more than good enough.
