Looking for recs on what’s the best one out right now. It needs to be kid proof and parent friendly. We currently have family link and need something with more functionality.

Covenant Eyes, or Accoutable2You.

Also looks up how to change your DNS to Cisco’s SafeDNS on your router.

If you follow those two steps you will have a solid set up.

Those 2 apps appear to be geared towards people with porn addictions and not so much young kids.

Qustodio is what we use as well. Free version gives you some control, subscribed version gives you lots of parameters to set. We really like it.

On iOS devices is there a way to stop kids from manually inputting a DNS server Like google's in their device settings for the WiFi network and working around router settings?

I am guessing new routers with true parental controls better block this by blocking other DNS servers or forcing its WiFi users to use WiFi router's settings. Mine only has timed access. It's AC and MIMO and has been good & fast enough for several years, but parental controls are lacking and becoming more of an issue.

Not that DNS gets locked by screen time from what I can tell, but It's funny how quickly kids find ways around some iOS's screen time restrictions.
