About to mount a TV outside and I want to jam!

At first I was going to buy a sound bar setup that could also bluetooth straight to phone for ease of use. But then I realized I was almost guaranteed to be disappointed in the volume, as it seems most TV's have caught up and almost as good as soundbars now. (premium on volume over sound quality for this setup)

Then I figured I need to just suck it up, grab a full size receiver and some outdoor speakers and go 5 or 5.1. I just don't have a great place to mount a receiver inside or out, but I could manage if that makes sense.

And then I thought I should ask the Tech board first if I'm missing an option, or thinking about things the wrong way.

TIA

You can get the performance you want with the right soundbar. If anything, TV manufacturers have moved away from premium sound on their TVs, IMO.

I'd rather go that way.

I have this one listed below as well as the Micro version. Both sound good with movies and music. I'm sure others will provide solid alternatives. The Vizio soundbars have been well reviewed on here also.

I wouldn't put an expensive soundbar outside.

I would probably opt for a cheap stereo receiver and a pair of outdoor speakers.

If the TV has normal stereo outputs on it or a headphone jack you can do something like this...

LINK or LINK or LINK

If it goes bad in 2 or 3 yrs, you still have the speakers and you replace the amp.

I got a receiver and a couple of outdoor speakers. I got a Play-Fi receiver for music. Play-Fi is basically booty Sonos, but it works fine and it’s way cheaper. Added the receiver to my harmony hub, so I can control everything from my phone.

The harmony hub is only used for turning the receiver on and off. Maybe for volume, but not usually. Music is played from Play-Fi app.

Good deal, found a whole area of small form factor recievers/amps! I wish I could find one with rca outs to make them stackable.

I have a Yamaha receiver w/ musiccast and ceiling speakers. Can play music via the musiccast app and when I want, switch over to TV sound. ran an optical cable from the TV to the receiver.

Here is what I did.
I wanted to be able to stream music, watch tv, and have the ability to add an outdoor projector at a later date. I had the local electronics company do this for me and I’m very happy with the results.

Kilpsch AW-650 indoor/outdoor 6” 2 way $399

Kilpsch AW-650-SM all weather rock speaker (2 for $459)

Sonos Amp ($649)

Direct burial, install/labor, and parts ($522)

Total for the job $2161
