One laptop is getting severely restricted internet speeds

I thought it was an issue with spectrum, but I ran speed tests on my work laptop which sits right next to my personal laptop, work laptop is getting 445, laptop between 9-25 when I test it.
I checked and wireless adapter is a N, I know it's older but it should be getting better than that. windows says the drivers are up to date, I ran virus scans and got nothing, I tried some random suggestions and nothing helped.
I did a reset of windows 10(I had it keep personal files)
Any other easy thoughts I'm missing here? Driving me nuts. I am unsure how long this has been going on for, I only noticed when I downloaded some ROMs last week and it was really slow.

What's the actual connection speed the laptop is connecting at? Is it connecting on the 2.4GHz radio instead of 5GHz?

That's your problem. It's possible to get faster speeds on 2.4 if both sides support mimo etc but generally doesn't get much faster.
Without knowing anything else, I'm going to assume your 5 GHz wifi is configured for 80 MHz channels which is incompatible with 802.11n. If so, this is why your older laptop isn't connecting @ 5GHz.
So you'd need to configure the 5GHz radio on your wifi router down to 40MHz channel width. Though this will lower the max speed of your newer laptop but should still be pretty fast. Or buy a 802.11 ac/ax usb dongle for the older laptop.
Fyi, lower channel width makes your wifi more reliable/consistent especially if your have alot of interference around you.

ahh i never had a problem before, i guess moving to this new house with the router caused the issue.
I tried changing the radio frequency but I can't see those settings anywhere i have linkysys velop. I'll just get a dongle.
Thanks man.
