On Android phone, how to get image link address instead of downloading?

Everytime I have something spiffy to post on TD and need a meme, I tap and hold on a picture and hit Open in new window.
80 percent of the time it just downloads the pic to my phone instead of opening in a new tab where I can grab the address link.
What gives?

Don't know if browser dependent, but I use Firefox. When I hold on a picture it gives me the option to "copy image location".

I may give that a shot.
It's just that switching browsers is a big change for me.

Happens to me sometimes but if I do it twice it will open in new tab, I think it depends on if it's the expanded image or not.
If I go to google image search it opens in a new tab every time.

No need to switch browser. Whatever browser you use has a way to do it. In Chrome you hold down and select open image in new tab. Then you just go and copy it

That's what I do but it usually doesn't open in a new tab. It just downloads it.

Nope. For an example try a Google image search for Chris Hardwick.
Open the website with the image of him holding that Pi paper, and try to open that image in a new tab.
Doesn't work for me.

It is site dependent.
Happens to me occasionally, then I just click search Google for this image and find a different sources.

long click on the image and it should give you an option to open image in new page, then you can copy the image url from the new page
