I may not understand correctly, but they have me paranoid of burning up my relay if someone plugs a hairdryer or vacuum in.

i've seen about 5-6 kickstarter campaigns for little battery operated shitty things but have no idea which would be a good idea.
i want some though because that adds to the blade-runner effect of HA in my house more than anything else.

The wife and I just got some Lutron Serena Shades. Expensive as $hit, but couldn't really find any other decent options. I was able to score 20% off through Lowe's though.
We have four high windows in the living room, so hopefully they will pay for themselves in the long run by keeping out the heat.
They were installed last week. Got them voice controlled through a combo of wink, IFTTT, and my Echo. Also have the remote wall mounted in a decora wall plate. It's pretty bad arse.

dammit, I don't think my HVAC is going to work with ecobee :( have an air-conditioning guy coming over on the Saturday, but the ecobee couldn't control my o/b ... or, the control valve on my system for some stupid reason.
(basically it was blowing hot air during the a/c cycle) - hooked up the old system again... a/c is still working like a charm

What type of system do you have? It's got to work.. Can you post a pic of your thermostat wiring?

Sure I will tomorrow, I'm thinking a a/c installer would need to see it to understand what to do, because I had ecobee on the line, and a guy that works on these things all the time on the line... and none of them could figure it out

I put each of those in the correct, corresponding connection on the ecobee. R went into Rc - E was taped up and removed from the equation - W2 I tried in W1 and in W2 - Y went to Y1

Curious - what did these cost you?

agree. the one thing about the whole wink business that has been rock-solid. wouldn't hesitate to use them for shades/blinds.

i get it..but i mean..they're shades.
if they are measured correctly we're talking 15 minutes or less to screw in the brackets and maybe another 15 seconds to pop the duracells in.

Another relay tease from the facebook rep
This is so great to hear! The Relay can be used in so many different ways, and with the updates coming soon, you won't know what to do with yourself! ;) I will be sure to share this with the rest of the team. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you Scott!

Just installed my first relay. Very happy with the potential of it. Having a temperature sensor in each room will help with controlling my a/c. Had a lamp in my son's room with a smart bulb that everyone else would physically turn on/off. Now they can hopefully use the shortcuts to work it.
