Something else I'm really interested in, is how stand alone the Watch can be. I know he said an iPhone is required, but can I just have it connected via what I'm assuming will be Bluetooth and do everything from there? I mean clearly it will have it's own functions. But I'd really like for them to define where the line is drawn. Yeah it'd be awesome to get notifications on my wrist, but I mean for 350$? And starting price at that? Idk.
And then I remember him saying "oh well it can play music you have stores on the watch itself." I'm thinking alright so will the watch have it's own headphones or will you use the headphones connected to the phone itself?
I'm just still really unclear about that. But hey, that could be why they're not releasing it until next year

I am certain there are two possibilities with the watch.
1.) You have to have an iPhone on you at all times for notifications via bluetooh
or
2.) Watch connects to wifi/mobile carrier
I think option 2 means the watch will have a pretty bad battery life imo. I really think Apple did a huge disservice to themselves by announcing the watch this early.

I was talking about the iOS update.
Does it come out at 10am pst on the 17th?

Yeah. All of the iOS updates I can remember landed around noon central.

I'm not convinced the watch will have a bad battery life. It only turns on when you look at it. If I were to get it as long as it worked for at least 16 hours than I'm fine.

That is something I don't get. I would think that apple could reduce the load on their servers by releasing it that at midnight. Only the real fan boys would wait up to 12 pst to download iOS 8. That is still a lot but the casual user wouldn't update it at midnight or later.

I'd be highly surprised if it were #2. They never mentioned being part of a carrier but did several times say an iPhone is required. Which I guess when you think about it is logical because they're trying to cram so much into the size of a watch face, they can offload some of the processing/info/wifi/gps to the phone to save battery life

I've never been home to download it during the middle of the day so I don't know if the servers get crushed. I've never had any problem downloading the updates.
I've always just tried to download it in the window before when most of the west coast and east coast gets off work and goes home. I've never had any issues doing it between 3pm and 5pm central.

maybe it's my wifi, but it usually takes a few tries when you first update it. I think it can't communicate with the apple servers or something. I think the servers never crash but it is very slow. Kinda like this place gets when the rant melts.
Actually my wednesday is so busy that I will likely do it around that time as well. I'll be busy and in class from about 11:45-3:30. Wednesday afternoons are the worst for me. So I will likely update for both my iPad and phone around 4pm. Than after 4pm I will be completely distracted for about 4 hours on my phone and iPad.

So is the iPhone 6 plus the bigger screened phone or can I get an iPhone plus that is 4.7 inches
Posted on 9/10/14 at 8:35 am to Macintosh
Iphone 6 is 4.7
Iphone 6+ is 5.5
the two main differences is the screen size and the screen resolution. The + has more pixel density than the non +. The pixel density is the same in the 6 as it was in the 5s, it is higher in the 6+

Alright cool. Thanks

The + also has a better battery.

oh yeah forgot about that. We'll see how that actually plays out.
Posted on 9/10/14 at 9:10 am to catholictigerfan
I wonder how many people are gonna preorder the + and be completely overwhelmed by the size. That's a big damn phone. I thought I may wanted to go that way, but the more I think about it, the more I am leaning back to just the 6. More of the same size of my Nexus phones, which I like. Phablets just always seemed a bit excessive.

Not once is it mentioned that the watch is water resistant, in this day & age people wash their hands more now than ever before. If this watch can't handle a little water it's going to be the biggest fail in Apple history. At the 350 starting price point a lot of people will be pissed if they have to remove their watch to wash their hands.
Oh yea, I will buy this new iPhone just like I have bought all previous models, just pisses me off that the claimed most advanced smart phone ever can't have a little water resistance like the new galaxy.

that is an opinion not a fact. Not everyone will think the iPhone 6 is the most advance phone. One thing it has going is the paying with the phone. I'm pretty sure they are the first.

so this technology exists? I guess I may have been wrong.
If it already exists apple is revolutionizing the market. Because of the high number of iPhones on the market, less and less people will use plastic.
