Paying $75 a month for the 'premier' package of just the internet with COX.
It's supposed to be 150/mbps
but....
So yeah...
been on the phone with several different folks, hashing out the details.
Yall want to hear what they're saying?

I use Wi-Fi and get exactly the speeds I'm paying for..I have eatel 50 up and 25 down and use a netgear router..

Hard wire in then check the speeds. Could be a router issue.

That means your Wifi has a good enough signal to do that.
The worse your wifi signal the lower it's max bandwidth.

What router do you have? It makes a major difference. If you are renting it from them then they should be supplying you with the proper equipment.

New surfboard Arris (SB6141) Modem and Trendnet (TEW-813DRU) dual band AC1200 wireless router.
During all those test;
Only ESPN3 rugby game going, and my 9yr old on Netflix on her Kindle.
So yeah, I'm not happy with a 3rd of the speed I'm paying for.

What I wanted to do, while the COX man was here, installing the new filter on my pole, but this new Dell laptop I got 4 days doesn't have an Ethernet port.

You need a router than can support the speed. Mine did the same thing. I have bad arse speed now.

You have to do the tests with no streaming going on

I have an Arris. On Time Warner and paying for up to 100mbps. Just tested and getting 85.96.

First, I would never purchase a laptop that did not have an ethernet port. I get that in some even most settings it's not convenient or practical to run ethernet wiring from your router to every room where you might be using your laptop but ethernet is so much more reliable and generally has better realized throughput vs wireless, that we chose to run cat6 cable throughout our home.
Second, there are many factors that impact wireless performance. You should read this and other articles about wireless performance issues: LINK

$70 walmart?
I with there were a benchmark test for routers done.
Ethernet is the control, then switch a bunch of routers out to see their difference.

No COX is a shite storm.
My router and modem are on par and can handle these speeds.
The guy can and put some kind of filter on my line and said it would open it up.

This is pathetic.....
There's nobody home, and there's nothing being streamed right now.
Every damn time it gets cloudy my internet acts up.
This has been happing for 16 years.

Try these things.
Plug in straight into the modem and check speeds. If you get full speed, move to wireless check. If not, move to reset and node change.
Next, Move your devices right next to the router to get speed test. If you get full speed, it's your placement. I can see you are taking tests in not optimum ranges.
If that still doesn't work, reset your modem and router. Try speed tests again.
If that didn't work, go outside and change nodes to another location in the house. Reset and try the speed tests again.
If that doesn't work, it is going to be a Cox issue and the lines might be bad.
I have almost always had better than advertised speeds and reliability through cox.
