Looks like some people have problems with their iPhone bending after being in their pocket for a long time.

iPhones are bending just because they're in people's pockets for a long time?

This shouldn't be news. It's a relatively thin and large piece of metal (only the 6+ is reportedly bending). It's already too big to be in most pockets comfortably anyway. Sit down with it, and physics takes over.

OMG a piece of metal bends under pressure! Someone alert the public!!!11! The 6+ is a larger phone with the same thickness. Couldn't the title have been "Skinny Jeans + Sitting Bend iPhone 6+!"?

well that's Apple's fault for making the phone that thin

quote:i put my galaxy Note 2 in my pocket every day for over a year and it never bent. yeah, it's plastic. but, it didn't bend. if this is true, apple royally effed up.

i'm sure they'll just give everyone a $5 bumper case and make it all better though, right?

quote:How so? If I go grab a solid piece of aluminum the same size as the note or iphone 6+ and throw it into a small pocket and continue to put pressure on it, it's going to bend. We're talking about something that's 7-8 mm thick.
why not? It incredibly ridiculous

I think people have a reasonable expectation that their phone shouldn't, regardless of what it's made of. I'd say Thin and Light have hit a point of diminishing returns once you can't carry your phone in your pocket safely.

yeah, it's plastic

Carrying it in a pocket and sitting for hours putting pressure on aluminum are two different things. I expect that I'll be able to put my phone in my back pocket and walk around. I don't expect to sit on it all day without consequences.

Remember the original iPod Nanos? They'd snap in half if you put enough tension on it in your pocket. It was the same thickness as this iPhone 6.
Whether it's an iPhone 6/6+ specific problem or not, it does make me further consider whether I want a phone with a large screen (for example, I'm considering the Galaxy Note 4) and how it will fare in my pockets (not necessarily durability, but comfort as well).

Every year there is a witch hunt for some flaw with the new iPhones. It's pretty ridiculous.

so you're talking about forcing it to bend now? These people are putting their phone in their pocket like always and going about their day. They're not trying to bend it

6" phones can fit in pockets so please retire that dumbass pocket shite

so Apple engineers royally fricked up. Show me how many HTC One's and Sony Xperia's have bent. I had an HTC EVO LTE (metal frame) that lived in all of pockets and it never bent

Just like antenna gate, or iCloud hacks, or the iPad 3 getting hot, or slave labor, or wait, what were we talking about again?

If it bends after just a few days then yes, it is news and yes it is a design flaw. Only an idiot would deny this.
I don't hate on Apple on here and I see this as a definite design flaw if after 1 week of use the phone is conforming to the pocket shape.

Mine is fine. Will make sure to monitor, though. Good news is I hardly have the phone in my pocket while sitting, etc.

well it looks like you'll be fine as long as you avoid the new iPhones. Other phones do not have this problem

you're the most logical Apple person on here but you have to admit this is a horrible flaw
