New Desktop with fewer HDD internal connections

Just got a new desktop that only had 1 extra HDD connector when I have 3 more HDD's. (off the shelf prefab PC but highly customizable)
There are 2 places I could use a 4pin-to-SATA or I could use 2 SATA-Y-splitters.
Which would be preferred by you more experienced PC builder/enhancers? Or would you guys/gals use another method to add at least 2 SATA connections?
The PSU has plenty extra juice.

Just use one bad arse SSD. It'll cost a lot upfront but you'll be thankful later.

Probably. Thing is, these are HDD's with data over the last 15 years or so. Stuff that cannot be replaced easily if at all.
Best of both would be to mount what I have, then add the SSD and copy and remove the HDD's onto one SSD. Don't know if SSD that big is really affordable yet. (checking Newegg and TigerDirect shows the 4TB+ SSD's cost more than the rest of the rig combined by like double or more.)

It's just a cheap $60 MB. This is NOT a high end machine, just a multi purpose tool.

what about a SATA mobile rack? You can just hot swap the hard drives.

That could work. Might be easier to use 3 way splitter from 4-pin (Amazon) or 1 Male 15 pin to 3 female (also Amazon)
