Need advice: Best ultra wide monitor for under $500

I'm in the market to add a monitor to my home office. I usually have 2 monitors, but I'm thinking about making it a lot cleaner and less wires by going with an ultrawide. I found this LG one on Best Buy, but I have no clue what to look for in the specs. I'm not planning on gaming with it, just work stuff like email, Skype, and the occasional YouTube binge. MY company gives us a $500 credit for our home office, so I would like to keep it under that.
Any help is appreciated.

That monitor would be terrible. Any 1080p (FHD) ultra wide is going to suck

Make sure it isn't 1080, you want 1440 vertical pixels.

At that price point, you want 3440x1440 and a stand that's capable of height, swivel, and tilt adjustment. I would probably do something like this:

I have one with USB C and use it as a docking station/power supply for my notebook.
