We have a projector that has Santa dancing and stuff that you play on a translucent screen. I’m using a shower curtain, not see-through but kind of like, frosted. Works good but what would work better? I want it to look more realistic from outside.

I have a lot of experience with this. The best thing is exactly what you described. The key is to get it as taught as posible.

I built a frame out of some trim molding, pulled the shower curtain on all sides to get rid of wrinkles, and stapled it to the trim wood.

It works great!
This was my setup a few years ago.

I have a shower curtain but it’s doesn’t look nearly as good as yours. It’s also not tight, at all. Maybe that’s it. Does the quality of the projector matter? Mines a cheapo.

Projector certainly wont hurt - but i too have a cheapo $50 china special from amazon. It gets the job done though.

The curtain I used was a “frosted clear” off amazon as well.

What spotlights do you have pointed up at your house?

I assume they are able to change colors and such?

They are westinghouse par38 led flood lights.
I made flood light cans with a .99 plastic flower pot and a $5 flood stake to hold and power them.

Have to go led though. The color saturation is much much higher than cfl or halogen.

They dont change color. I looked into those multi unit ones and couldnt find any with “great” reviews. Most seemed hit or miss.

This was the halloween setup if you want to see the blue color in action.

How far back from the screen did you have your projector?

I did about 10-10.5 ft back.

See if your projector has a throw ratio listed to see what the optimal distance would be for the window you are projecting to.

Also maybe check the focus and zoom to dial it in just right. I played with a lot of the settings as well to sharpen up the picture.
